LOOKING FOR MR. GOODWRENCH?

You can find them at Schaumburg Automedics Inc.

On Saturday 213107 when Chicago was in deep freeze, my Saturn Vue's manual transmission would not engage except for 5th gear. I called the Saturn dealership on Higgins Rd in Schaumburg, IL. They instructed me to have the car towed over, which I promptly did. The prognosis according to someone at the service department was that both the master cylinder and slave cylinder were bad and leaking and need to be replaced. He also suggested other repairs bring the total estimated cost to over $2100.00. Mind you, the car is only 5 years old and the mileage on it is 70,000 miles. He suggested that I trade it in for a new car Instead of spending so much money on old car unless I intended to keep it for at least five years to get my repair money's worth.

To make a long story short, I refused to have my car repaired at the Saturn dealership and instead had it towed to Schaumburg Automedics Inc. This is where my faith in humanity was restored. They checked the car thoroughly, drove it around plenty, had it over for two nights and they didn't find the master cylinder and slave cylinder leaking or needing to be replaced, The prognosis according to Schaumburg Automedics Inca the manual transmission is OK Cost for all their trouble less than $80.00. You be the judge here. They could have charged me 20 times as much and I would have still been happy, but they chose not to. This is HONESTY at its best.

My advice to all: Always get a second opinion before dolling out your hard-earned money for an expensive repair and hopefully you will get the second opinion at Schaumburg Automedics Inc, as I have found them to be the most honest auto repair shop that I have been to in my entire life. The owner's statement sums it up best; " We don't fix what ain't broke." I wish this will be the mantra of all auto repair shops including those of the dealerships.
